Pregnancy & Postnatal
Physiotherapy during pregnancy may help you if you are experiencing pain in the back or pelvis, know as pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain (PGP), pain or injury to any other body part, leaking / incontinence, a feeling of heaviness between the legs or prolapse.
Pregnancy is also a good time to have a check up or MOT, to make sure you are as fit and healthy as possible throughout your pregnancy. Any time from the start of the second trimester is good for this.
From the third trimester, it’s a good time for a birth preparation appointment.
In this appointment, we can offer advice, exercises and techniques to prepare you for the demands of birth, both vaginal and C-section , and educate you on what to do in those all important first few postnatal weeks.
A postnatal check up or MOT can be done anytime from 6 weeks post birth and has become widely recognised as the gold standard for every new mummy.
We check how you are moving functionally, your breathing, pelvic floor strength and function, abdominal strength and abdominal separation / diastasis.
We will also check C-section and perineal scars and work with you on a plan to aid their healing.
Most importantly of all, we work with you to help you thrive and achieve your goals - whether that’s being able to bounce on a trampoline with your kids again as quickly as possible or set a new deadlift PB.
You are at the heart of everything we do.
“It’s common, not normal...”
We say this all the time to postnatal women because society has us believing that mamas should just put up with leaking or our bits falling out.
This is not the case and if you feel like something isn’t quite right then please don’t suffer in silence.
There is help - and you are in the right place.
