Pregnancy & Postnatal

Physiotherapy during or after pregnancy may help you if you are experiencing pain in the back or pelvis, know as pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain (PGP), pain or injury to any other body part, leaking / incontinence, a feeling of heaviness between the legs or prolapse.

Pregnancy Health Check

Pregnancy is also a good time to have a health check or MOT, to make sure you are as fit and healthy as possible throughout your pregnancy. Any time from the start of the second trimester is good for this, and in the third trimester, it’s a good time to use it for birth preparation.

In this appointment, I complete a holistic assessment with you to optimise your physical health throughout your pregnancy. I can offer advice, exercises and techniques to prepare you for the demands of birth, both vaginal and C-section , and educate you on what to do in those all important first few postnatal weeks.

Postnatal Health Check

A postnatal health check or MOT, can be done anytime from 6 weeks post birth and has become widely recognised as the gold standard for every new mummy.

I assess how you are moving, your breathing, pelvic floor strength and function, abdominal strength and abdominal separation / diastasis recti.

I will also check C-section and perineal scars and work with you on a plan to aid their healing.

Most importantly of all, we work together to help you thrive and achieve your goals - whether that’s being able to bounce on a trampoline with your kids, baby-wear with your growing baby, return to running or set a new deadlift PB.

You are at the heart of everything I do.

It’s common, not normal...

I often say this to postnatal women because society has us believing that mamas should just put up with leaking or our bits falling out.

This is not the case and if you feel like something isn’t quite right then please don’t suffer in silence.

There is help….and you can find it here!
