It could be anything from being able to jump on a trampoline with your kids or to stop wearing pads, to running a marathon or hitting a deadlift PB. However big or small your goal, if it will improve your quaility of life, then we will make a treatment plan together to achieve it.

What does women’s health physiotherapy involve?

To ensure we provide you with the best possible support, your treatment with mPOWER begins with an all-important assessment.

This will see us discussing your symptoms, concerns and priorities, often in great detail, because the better we understand these important aspects, the better placed we are to help you.

We will also look at how you’re moving and breathing, the strength and function of your muscles and assess for pain or restriction with hands-on techniques.

If appropriate an internal vaginal examination may be recommended and this would be fully explained and only carried out once you were fully informed and if you decide to give consent.

Internal examination is not essential and is entirely client choice, if carried out they are done with dignity and professionalism at all times.

Your treatment options include:

  • Education so you fully understand your condition and how to improve it.

Exercises to improve strength, co-ordination and mobility, we will work together to make these as easy to fit into your life as possible.

  • Hands-on treatments such as massage and mobilisations

  • Breath work

  • Scar therapy

  • Advice on adjuncts and biofeedback.

Kat Barrington - our clinical lead

Kat is our clinical lead.

A highly experienced and extensively qualified physiotherapist, Kat is also a mother to two beautiful girls.

During and after her pregnancies, she became aware of a lack of physiotherapy services dedicated to empowering women and improving their pelvic health.

She was inspired to redress this balance and to use her specialist skills and expertise to make a positive impact.

  • mPOWER Physiotherapy is a home-based business operating from a discreet clinic in Tetbury. Our address and postcode will be provided when you make a booking.

  • Our team at the moment is exclusively female. Should this change, we will always offer you the choice and understand your wishes may depend on personal preference, the treatment required and the sensitivity of your condition.

  • Appointments last from 30 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the type of consultation or treatment required.

  • An internal examination is not a necessity but does help with identifying both issues and the best treatment. If you prefer not to have an internal examination, we can identify issues and treatment pathways by discussing your symptoms and by conducting an external assessment.

  • We would recommend wearing something comfortable and that allows you to move freely such as gym or lounge wear. As part of your assessment or treatment, we will need to observe how your body moves so we will ask you to perform certain movements such as squats, lunges, step ups etc.
